Thanks to the fine folk over at Pen & Sword Books for providing Operation Market Garden : A Bridge Too Far by Ben Skipper for review.
This book is part of the Battle Craft series of books that sets out to help modellers perfect their dioramas and models by providing important information regarding the setting, the background, the kits and the colour schemes in relation to specific historical battles.
Despite the tired cliched title that we have seen a thousand times before this book is actually a gold mine of information for any model builders out there that are looking to create something around the battle for the road bridge at Arnhem in 1944 during the Second World War.
It has over 100 images that not only highlight what the area of operations looked like at the time but it also show colour schemes for vehicles of the era, what kits to buy, how they look built and other valuable info. This book is aimed at those with little knowledge of the operation and does a good job in explaining the who, what, where and why although for those who are interested in the military history, its a bit… shall we say light.
All in all a great book for a newcomer to the topic and one I would certainly have in my collection if I was a modeller. The book is only 64 pages long but they are A4 in size and are packed with images and information so despite its small size it contains everything you would need to give you a good grounding in the subject of your build.
